wplace

Despite it having been down for over a day, Wplace has been more fun than artfight for me so far lmao

(the qrcode just goes here, don't bother)

Art updates

Another artfight attack, this time for NE0Nbandit of their character Rayne. Done in Blender with Substance Painter for the texture:

Also, I was rewatching bits of Serial Experiments Lain again and was inspired to make something like its intro -- but with one of my fursonas, Neon, instead. Came out surprisingly well, considering.

The workflow went:

AI portion: (done completely locally on a gaming PC over an hour or two, don't give me shit about using too much electricity lmao)

- T2I with Illustrious (plus a lora of my OC) to make a basic bust image of her

- I2V with WAN to do the talking loop

Postprocessing:

- ntsc-rs to add a VHS filter

- Made a custom shader in Blender to render the individual subpixels' detail (specifically W-OLED RWBG subpixel layout. No big reason for that one, just looked neat.)

- Zoom the camera waaay in and wobble it around similarly to in the Lain intro

New website background and Blender stuff

I forgot to post this but I added a new animated background to the site, and adjusted some of the CSS to look good with it. I wanted to make a 3d model of a room inspired by the one in Serial Experiments Lain, but a little different (as I've already made that specific room a decade ago. It was the background of my old website in a similar fashion.)

For some reason the background looks super dark on my phone, though. but idk making the mobile view look good is secondary for me.

I also wanted to do a TV static effect on each monitor but wanted some UV distortion too. Did not want to research how to make it convincing, but from a distance it looks good. Here it is close up though kgfdjkgdf

First artfight attack

Looked at my old website's blog and wow I used to post stuff I work on a lot more often. Gonna try and fix that.

Artfight attack on archangels of their Braixen OC, Socks! Did it in a lowpoly/low fidelity style.

been a big fan of this braix since I first saw art of her like 2-3 years ago.

Substance Painter

So I just reinstalled Substance Painter (2019.2.x-something) and this time I downloaded an archived Linux version, because Proton's giving me issues running the Windows version (I've never actually run the native Linux version until now)

(some context: I run Kubuntu 25.04 on my main device and used to always use Proton to run the Windows version of Substance Painter, because I had the Windows version installed on Windows, and just... copied over the files.

I managed to find my license.key file somewhere in AppData and was luckily able to activate it with that, because for some stupid reason Adobe shut down the old licensing servers/downloads/etc. after they bought it, so I either have to use that file or crack it)

Anyway for some reason it's way faster than the Windows one ever was on Windows?? I have no idea why, I would assume they probably targeted Windows first and optimized for that.

maybe I'll think of something to texture
